Prince Rodgers Nelson was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 6,1958. He was a singer, songwriter, musician, producer, actor and director. He had different styles of music such as R&B, funk, Pop, Rock just to name a few. He wrote all his music and played mostly all the instruments in his recordings. He released 39 albums and sold 150 million records worldwide. He had many awards such as Grammy, American Music, Billboard and Academy Award just to name a few. He was inducted into Rock and Roll. UK Music and Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fames. He was also inducted into Black Music Entertainment Walk of Fame in 2022. In 1978-1979 I was a Freshman in high school. I was introduced to Prince by a classmate who had book covers of this very attractive young man named Prince. I went to the record store and purchased a 45 single titled Soft and Wet. I have been a fan every since. Back then I did not know how he would grow as an Artist. But, to my amazement he just kept producing and performing great music over and over again. He was apart of my life. I named my daughter’s middle name Dawn because he said “Look 2 the dawn”. He really influenced my music and the way I write lyrics and poetry. I will always cherish him.
